The school is located in the Blakenall area of Walsall. It is a traditional building constructed in the late 1930s. The school comprises two buildings housing the infants and the juniors separately, there is a purpose built dining hall and cooking kitchen. Each of the buildings has its own hall for assemblies and PE, an IT suite housing computers that children can access daily and plenty of teaching space. The school has good facilities, with lots of outdoor space and its own 15m learner swimming pool.
We have a well-equipped Nursery and children can start at our school at the age of 3, this gives them a perfect start to their education and makes transition from part-time nursery to full-time school much easier as both the children and parents are familiar with the setting and the staff.
We provide our children with a wealth of experiences including, residential visits for older Key Stage 2 children, visiting theatre companies and professionals, as well as, plenty of educational visits. We have a strong belief in rewarding high standards, with termly prizes for excellent attendance and exceptional behaviour and attitudes to learning.
We are a warm, friendly, popular and successful academy where everyone feels secure, challenged and valued.
At Goldsmith our children are at the centre of all our decisions, we stride to make learning fun and a natural part of life. Our dedicated inspiring staff deliver high quality teaching which allows our children to become confident and independent learners with enquiring minds and enthusiasm to develop the skills to fulfil their full potential. We expect children to give their best in everything they do, we encourage the children to develop positive, caring attitudes towards themselves, each other and the wider community of which they are part. We work together in partnership to create a school where positive behaviour is encouraged and everyone is treated with respect, understanding and sensitivity.

Rivers Primary Academy is a smaller than average primary school situated in Blakenall, Walsall. We are a one form entry school with 186 pupils on roll.
Our school has excellent facilities that range from high quality IT equipment; Forest Schools sessions and lots of outdoor space. Our EYFS department is well resourced with the children’s learning journeys now completed on blogs. Please visit our reception and nursery blog site at http://riversblogs.net/
We have invested heavily in our IT equipment across the school. We have 2 IT suites and all classes have either a set of notebooks or iPads to support the children’s’ learning when appropriate.
To enrich the curriculum further, we have used our Sports Grant to create a Forest School. All the children have half day for half term to work with specialist Forest School teachers. Some of the activities the children have been involved in range from bug hunts, den making and toasting marshmallows on the fire! The children have thoroughly enjoyed these sessions that culminated in each class going to visit the Forest School Centre to partake in rock climbing, a zip wire activity and other outdoor pursuits.
Once a week, the children have an enrichment afternoon. This is when they have specialist teaching in French, Art, History, PE, Music and Cookery. The children look forward to these afternoons because they are exciting and specialised. They produce excellent work that they are very proud of.
Our children are provided with a wealth of experiences. Our year 6 children go on a residential, we have theatre visits and groups that work with the children, as well as many educational visits. At Christmas, we take the whole school to the Grand Theatre to watch the pantomime.
At the Rivers Primary Academy, the staff have high expectations of all of our children who have excellent attitudes towards learning. We reward their good behaviour and attendance regularly. We have introduced a free breakfast club and this is now attended by over a third of the school.
We are a happy and caring school that encourages all our pupils to succeed in whatever they are doing. We have strong core values that we regularly share with the children. They are based on respect, empowerment, achieving their potential, caring and happiness – REACH. The staff and governors are thoroughly committed to the education and wellbeing of the children that attend Rivers Primary Academy. We encourage our children to be well adjusted, kind, caring and can understand how feelings and actions have consequences. In short, we strive for the children of Rivers Primary Academy to achieve well, aim high and to be genuinely good citizens of tomorrow.

We are fortunate to have an excellent Pre-School on site and our links with them are very strong. The children in Pre-School have many opportunities to join us in main school for some activities and a large number of them feed into our Reception Class.
When pupils leave our school for high school, we have excellent links with the receiving schools. We are proud to say that high schools regularly comment on the good standards and behaviour of past Manor Way pupils.
Our website has enabled us to forge even greater links with the community and showcase our school admirably. Please have a look at it and see how “Happy and Successful we are together.”
