11th October 2024
On the 9th and 10th of October, educators from across Sandwell and Walsall came together at Walsall Football Club for the latest in the series of Priority Education Investment Area (PEIA) events. This two-day professional learning event, proudly led by Windsor Academy Trust on behalf of the Department for Education and in partnership with Teach Like a Champion, focused on empowering teachers with cutting-edge strategies to enhance student outcomes.
The event was opened by the inspirational Doug Lemov and Hannah Solomon, who shared their invaluable insights from Teach Like a Champion. Over the course of the two days, participants engaged in sessions on critical teaching techniques such as checking for understanding, retrieval practice, and lesson preparation. They also explored how to foster greater participation in classrooms and lead for long-term change in their schools.
One of the most powerful aspects of the event was the collaborative spirit that filled the room. Teachers from a range of schools worked together, shared best practices, and explored new ways to unlock the academic and personal potential of every student. The passion and commitment of the educators were evident throughout, making it clear that this initiative is not just about professional development—it’s about creating a lasting impact on education in the region.
As we wrap up this successful event, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners at Teach Like a Champion, Doug Lemov, and Hannah Solomon for their expertise and leadership. We also thank the Department for Education for their continued support and vision. Finally, a huge thank you to the incredible participants who made these two days such a success.
Together, we are transforming education and unlocking the future for our students, one classroom at a time.
