Goldsmith Primary Academy Shortlisted for Prestigious Department for Education Sustainability Award

15th October 2024

We are thrilled to announce that Goldsmith Primary Academy, part of Windsor Academy Trust, has been shortlisted for the Department for Education Sustainability Award, a recognition of the school's ongoing commitment to creating a sustainable future for its students, staff, and wider community.

Max Wakeman, Headteacher of Goldsmith Primary Academy, expressed his pride in the achievement: "At Goldsmith, we are passionate about embedding sustainability into every part of our school's culture. This nomination is a testament to the dedication of our staff and students who are committed to making a positive impact on the environment. We are excited to share our journey and continue driving forward our sustainability agenda."

The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 15th October 2024 at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester, where Goldsmith Primary Academy will join fellow finalists and representatives from the Department for Education to celebrate the innovative and sustainable practices being implemented across the education sector.

As part of this exciting opportunity, Goldsmith Primary Academy will also participate in the Sustainability Award Spotlight session at the Education Estates® conference earlier that day. The session, chaired by Beverly Quinn and Jonathan Dewsbury from the Department for Education, will provide a platform to share the school’s insights and success in pioneering sustainability projects.

Chris Berry, Director of Operations at Windsor Academy Trust, added: "Being shortlisted for this award is a reflection of the incredible efforts being made to drive sustainability across our trust. We’re proud of Goldsmith Primary Academy for leading the way in this area and demonstrating what can be achieved through a commitment to environmental responsibility."

This recognition is a reflection of the school’s innovative approach, and we look forward to showcasing the positive impact being made across the academy.
