A Day of Pride, Passion, and Community at the WAT Athletics Championships

On Thursday 5th June we held our annual Windsor Academy Trust Athletics Championships, and it was a truly special day. We were proud to host the event at the prestigious Alexander Stadium, giving our students a remarkable opportunity to compete in a world-class venue. But the real pride came from seeing the spirit in which the games were held.

This event is a highlight of our calendar, bringing together students from across our secondary schools. While we celebrate the winners, our main focus is always on participation, sportsmanship, and seeing our young people challenge themselves. It was fantastic to see students from different schools encouraging each other, celebrating personal bests, and competing with a brilliant sense of fair play. That is the true measure of success.

The day saw our Year 7, 8, 9, and 10 students competing across a full range of track and field events. The friendly but fierce competition brought out the very best in everyone who took part.

An event of this scale simply couldn't happen without incredible commitment from staff across our entire WAT family. We want to say a huge thank you to the PE departments and the many other staff members from all eight of our secondary schools. They not only brought their teams along but worked tirelessly all day to manage and staff the events. Their dedication ensures our students have these amazing opportunities in a safe and supportive environment, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.

Of course, a competition has results, and we are delighted to share and celebrate them. A huge well done to every single student who took part, and a special congratulations to our year group and overall winners.

• Year 10 Winners: Windsor High School and Sixth Form

After a fantastic effort from all schools, we have a new name on the overall trophy. Congratulations to Cheslyn Hay Academy, who are the 2025 WAT Secondary Athletics Champions! They take the trophy from Windsor High School and Sixth Form, who held it last year.

Thank you once again to everyone involved – students, staff, and volunteers – for making it such a memorable and proud day for our Trust.
