Unlocking Potential: How Apprenticeships at WAT Are Shaping Future Leaders

10th February 2025

#NAW2025 | Big Move 2 – Developing Inspiring, Research-Informed Staff

At Windsor Academy Trust, we believe in unlocking potential through lifelong learning. As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2025 (#NAW2025), we are celebrating the inspiring journeys of our apprentices who are developing their skills, growing in confidence, and making a real impact across our schools.

Apprenticeships are a vital part of our commitment to Big Move 2 – Developing Inspiring, Research-Informed Staff, providing opportunities for staff to learn while they work, gain industry-recognised qualifications, and enhance their career prospects.

In our latest video, Saphy Stuart, Rhi Hopcroft, Samantha Bethel, and Leyla Palmer share their experiences of how apprenticeships are shaping their professional growth.

Apprenticeship Journeys at WAT

🎤 Saffai Stuart (Level 4 IT Apprentice)
"One of the best things about my apprenticeship is working on real projects that make a difference. Every day, I’m developing problem-solving skills that I can apply straight away in my role."

🎤 Rhi Hopcroft (Level 7 Senior Leader Apprentice)
"My apprenticeship has given me the confidence to lead with impact. The learning I’m gaining directly applies to my role, helping me make informed decisions that drive positive change."

🎤 Samantha Bethel (Level 3 Business Admin Apprentice)
"I’ve developed so many skills, but one that stands out is communication. Working with different teams has helped me grow in confidence and become more efficient in my role."

The Power of Apprenticeships at WAT

Apprenticeships don’t just benefit individuals—they strengthen our entire WAT Family. As Leyla Palmer, Head of Talent and Professional Learning, explains:

"Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to develop talent and grow future leaders. They provide hands-on learning experiences that enable our staff to thrive, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to the success of our schools."

👏 A huge well done to all our apprentices across WAT who are making a difference every day!
