WAT a Talent Camp: Celebrating Creativity at Ingestre Hall Arts Camp

20th January 2025

On the 8th of January, 70 talented students from seven of our secondary schools embarked on an unforgettable three-day, two-night residential at the prestigious Ingestre Hall Residential Arts Centre. Known for delivering unique and transformative learning experiences through creative and expressive arts, Ingestre Arts provided the perfect environment for our students to explore and showcase their exceptional abilities in art, dance, drama, and music.

The selected students were chosen for their outstanding talent and passion for the arts, and their time at Ingestre Hall was nothing short of remarkable. Over the course of the residential, students participated in a variety of workshops led by expert tutors, each designed to push their creative boundaries and foster collaboration. The Head of Centre at Ingestre Hall was full of praise for the group, commenting on their exemplary conduct and teamwork:

"What an amazing cohort of students you brought! All of the tutors were impressed by how focused, supportive of each other, and well-mannered they were both in and out of workshop sessions."

The impact of the experience extended far beyond the workshops. For Mr. Cotterill, WAT’s Head of Performance, the residential was a highlight of the academic year so far:

"For me, this is the highlight of the school year so far. It’s not just about showcasing outstanding performance work, but also the incredible sense of family among the students. Despite coming from seven different schools, they formed strong friendships and completely supported each other throughout. The atmosphere was truly special."

Mrs. McLaughlin, WAT’s Head of Dance, echoed these sentiments and reflected on the students’ personal and creative growth over the three days:

"It was wonderful to watch them evolve and develop. They arrived as representatives of seven schools, but by the end of the residential, we were one family, united in support and collaboration. The level of talent was extraordinary, and there was such excitement and anticipation to see the creative pieces performed on the final day."

The residential concluded with a showcase event, where students proudly presented their work to their peers and tutors. The performances, exhibits, and artistic creations demonstrated not only the students’ exceptional skills but also their dedication and teamwork.

This incredible experience underscored the power of the arts to inspire, unite, and elevate. The students returned to their schools with new friendships, cherished memories, and a renewed passion for their artistic pursuits.
