Thank You to Our Volunteers: The Heartbeat of the WAT Family

5th June 2025

This week marks Volunteers’ Week – a UK-wide celebration recognising the incredible contributions of volunteers across the country.

At Windsor Academy Trust, we are proud to join the nation in saying a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who dedicate their time, energy and expertise to making a difference across our schools and communities.

From Members and Trustees to Local Academy Representatives and in-school volunteers, your support is vital in helping us live out our moral purpose: unlocking academic and personal potential for all. You do this not just in name, but in action – every single day.

Recognising the Power of Volunteering

The Department for Education acknowledges the vital role volunteers play in education — complementing the work of staff, enriching the experience of pupils, and strengthening communities. This week, Catherine McKinnell MP, the Minister for School Standards, published an open letter to all those serving in governance roles, thanking them for their dedication and service.

In addition, Mark Simms, Chair of the Charity Commission, recognised the “vast, vital and varied” role that volunteers play across the UK, highlighting that one in four people volunteer at least once a month — a powerful reflection of the generosity and civic spirit found in communities like ours.

WAT Volunteers: Going Above and Beyond

Within the WAT Family, volunteering extends far beyond the ordinary. Our volunteers contribute at exceptional levels – helping shape high-performing schools that raise aspirations, inspire learning, build character and cultural capital, power social mobility, and enable every student to thrive.

Your work changes lives. And we don’t take it for granted.

To every volunteer across Windsor Academy Trust – THANK YOU.
Your impact is lasting, your contribution is inspiring, and your generosity is truly appreciated by us all.
