This summer, Windsor Academy Trust had the pleasure of welcoming Charlie, a student from Windsor High School and Sixth Form, for a week-long work experience placement with our central team. We are proud to provide opportunities for our students to gain practical experience and insights into the professional world.
When Charlie first joined us, he was understandably unsure of what to expect. However, from day one, he was met with a warm welcome and enthusiastic support from our team, which quickly put his nerves at ease.
Charlie is currently studying Graphic Design, History, and English Literature at Windsor High School and sixth form. His initial tasks were designed to immerse him in the day-to-day operations of our marketing department. He was introduced to Canva, a graphic design tool, and given the responsibility of creating visually appealing graphics for our social media platforms and upcoming events.
Charlie’s main project involved designing a series of graphics that would be used across various digital platforms. He was tasked with making graphics, and his creativity shone through in every task he undertook. Charlie’s work demonstrated a keen eye for design and an understanding of our brand’s visual identity.
"Working with Canva and creating graphics for Windsor Academy Trust was an incredible experience. I learned so much about design and how marketing works in a professional setting. I also gained a better understanding of a client's wants and needs, which is crucial for a professional graphic designer," said Charlie.
Charlie’s supervisor, Martin, Head of Marketing, was thoroughly impressed with his dedication and creativity. Martin praised Charlie’s ability to quickly adapt and produce high-quality work that will be utilised throughout the year.
"Charlie has been amazing throughout his time with us. Under the brilliant guidance of our Marketing Content Creator Apprentice, Joel Elford, he quickly adapted to our workflow and exceeded our expectations. His dedication, creativity, and quick learning were evident in every project he tackled. Charlie's bright future is undeniable—he is mature beyond his years and possesses a keen eye for design that truly impressed our entire team. It was a fantastic week working with him, and I have no doubt that he will achieve great things in his future endeavours," said Martin.
Charlie's time at Windsor Academy Trust was more than just a week of work; it was a significant learning experience that provided him with a deeper understanding of the professional world. He made meaningful connections and gained valuable skills that will undoubtedly benefit him in his future career endeavours.
As we continue to offer work experience opportunities, we are reminded of the importance of these programs in shaping the futures of our students. Charlie’s successful placement highlights the value of hands-on experience and the positive impact it can have on young minds.
We look forward to welcoming more students in the future and providing them with opportunities to explore their interests and develop their skills. Thank you to everyone at Windsor Academy Trust for making these experiences possible.
Stay tuned for more updates and stories from across Windsor Academy Trust as we continue to support and celebrate our students' journeys.
