Opening Gateways to Serve a City and Improve Life Chances for Children

Bradford’s Education Alliance for Life Chances (EALC) brings together eight school trusts that serve the city, along with two NHS trusts. Colleagues from the Born in Bradford NHS research project, and the associated Centre for Applied Education Research, also attend, along with the Local Authority, children’s services, police and voluntary and community sector representatives. EALC developed out of the Bradford Opportunity Area and facilitates collaboration between school and NHS trusts at district-wide and hyper- local levels. It has enabled:

  • One stop health shops in schools
  • A successful joint funding bid between EALC, NHS Bradford District Care Trust, Exceed Academies and Dixons Academies to support school community health and wellbeing hubs
  • NHS school nurse support workers based in schools
