What a Weekend WAT a Run 2026!

What a spectacular weekend! Over 100 dedicated runners from across the Windsor Academy Trust family laced up their trainers to tackle an epic 85km route.

Connecting all 15 of our schools, the event proved that even a little rain cannot dampen our incredible community spirit. The energy was unmatched from the very first step to the final finish line, highlighting exactly what happens when our communities come together for a shared cause.

Why We Run: The Bed & Breakfast Campaign

Every single kilometre conquered and every pound dropped into a donation bucket drives us closer to our ambitious £70,000 target for the Bed & Breakfast campaign.

We want to completely eradicate bed poverty across our communities. Ensuring our young people have a warm, comfortable bed of their own eases financial pressure on families. Most importantly, a proper night of rest guarantees our students arrive at school energised, focused, and ready to unlock their academic and personal potential.

Highlights from the Route

Our schools went above and beyond to bring their own sunshine to the route and keep our runners smiling. Here is a glimpse of the magic:

  • A Musical Start: Day 1 kicked off with brilliant events from the Greenways PTFA and Milton, followed by fantastic tunes from the Sir Thomas Boughey school band.

  • A Festival Finish: Newcastle Academy provided a wonderfully warm welcome before runners finished Saturday at the Clayton Carnival, sung over the line by the massive Staffordshire Rocks Choir.

  • Community Milestones: Day 2 started bright and early at Kingswinford. The Halesowen community turned out in force, and we celebrated the opening of the new cycle path at Windsor Olympus on Black Patch Park.

  • Cool Treats and Loud Cheers: Following raucous, high-energy stops at Goldsmith and Rivers, Great Wyrley Academy supplied much-needed ice lollies just when the runners needed a boost.

  • The Ultimate Celebration: We reached our grand finale at Cheslyn Hay for 'Chezfest', surrounded by hundreds of incredible supporters.
