Growing Heads Course

Course overview

Thinking of undertaking NPQH in the next few years? Already accessed NPQH but need some personalised leadership revitalisation? Want a focus to work proactively with your governors?

This is a practical school leadership development course in the context of the self-improving school system and enhancing personal self leadership. The sessions will enable you to reflect on effective responses in a changing landscape and on the accountability of the role of head of school and headteacher. You will work on a school-based project showing your leadership skills and receive challenge and support from other leaders who are also at crucial points in their career.

Course outcomes

On completion of the course, you will have:

  • explored your strengths as a leader and team builder and the significance of your personal values
  • engaged in a practical school-based leadership project
  • asked those burning questions of guest experts in practical aspects of managing a school
  • gained an understanding of how to interpret and act upon the national and local drivers of school leadership
  • received personal coaching plus professional challenge from colleagues in a safe and confidential environment.

Who is this course suitable for?

  • Senior leaders between NPQSL and NPQH
  • Headteachers who are new in post
  • Headteachers reinvigorating a focus on their own professional development
