Big Move 4: Sustainability - Creating a Greener Future for All

At Windsor Academy Trust, we are fully committed to a more sustainable future and leaving the world in a better place for future generations.

We started our journey to become one of the most sustainable multi-academy trusts in the country in 2020 and since then, extensive work has been carried out to align our education, operations and estate and ensure sustainable practice across everything we do. As part of this process, we have developed a dedicated sustainability strategy and a 10 year decarbonisation plan with an aspirational target of becoming net carbon neutral by 2030.

Our sustainability strategy is closely aligned with both the DfE Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals  and the framework set out in the One Planet Living principles

Our supporting 10 year decarbonisation plan, developed through the use of an energy and decarbonisation portal, clearly details our energy consumption and CO2e reduction targets to achieve net zero. In line with this, we have made a capital investment of £4m to decarbonise our school estate, through investment of School Condition Allocation funding and support from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme

From this page, find out more about our sustainability journey to date and learn about the progress we are making. We are proud to embrace our role as an environmental leader, empowering our family of schools and communities to work together in creating a sustainable and thriving world for generations to come.

Together, let's make a positive impact on the planet and nurture a greener future for all.
