Colley Lane Primary Academy’s successful approach to remote learning and exceptional support for students returning to school was recognised during a visit to the school by the MP for Stourbridge, Suzanne Webb, on Friday 23rd October.

Ms Webb met with Headteacher Helen Hale, and Windsor Academy Trust’s CEO, Keith Sorrell, and Director of Primary, Matt Meckin, to hear about how the school and trust had worked exceptionally hard to enable students to return to school safety in September.

The MP for Stourbridge also learnt about the school and trust’s exceptional approach to remote learning and how this enabled students to continue with their studies from day one of lockdown and helped prepare them for the return to school.

As part of the visit, Ms Webb talked to students and staff as part of a short tour. Speaking of the visit, Ms Webb said:

“It was inspiring to hear about how the school and trust have supported students in my constituency and across Dudley to continue to provide outstanding teaching and learning during challenging times. Being able to visit the school and see this first hand was a real pleasure.”

Helen Hale, Headteacher at Colley Lane Primary Academy, added:

“We were delighted to welcome Suzanne to our school and to be given the opportunity to share the exceptional work that has taken place to support students, enabling them to continue their learning with no disruption. Being able to introduce Suzanne to our students and staff and to demonstrate the teaching and learning taking place in school was a privilege.”

Keith Sorrell, CEO at Windsor Academy Trust, said:

“I am extremely proud of the work that has taken place within the school and across the trust over the past eight months. Enabling students to continue their learning and development and return to school safely has been our number one priority. I’m delighted that we have been able to achieve this and this is testament to the dedication and hard work of staff and the whole trust family”.
